Built at West Gloucester, Massachusetts beside a salt marsh by west-englishman William Haskell in 1680, the simple yet grand farmstead was the foundation for the Haskell family in New England. They lived a quiet, simple but difficult frontier life growing crops and raising livestock among the marsh; harvesting hay and sailing it to central Gloucester for sale. Generations of the family grew up within these walls; it's currently owned by Haskell's 11th great-grandson.
